The middle route of China's South-to-North Water Diversion Project has just started, but the worrisome ecological negativity in Hanjiang River catchment appeared. ANBOUND research team views that the massive water diversion and local competition for water will make the ecology in Hanjiang River catchment overloading, the problem of water shortage and poor water quality would be worsened. If satisfying the living and industrial water needs in certain region would degrade the ecology of water source area, the meaning of the project is hardly accepted. Now the cross-region project is producing and transferring new ecological disaster besides the economic disparity, and finally it will generate new ecological poverty.
