How Far Is China from Being the Largest Economic Power in the World?
ANBOUND
The estimation from the World Bank on August 29th shows that China has rightly surpassed the US, becoming the largest economic power in terms of PPP(purchasing power parity) in the world. A stronger economy will enhance China's political influence. But ANBOUND think tank scholars point out that being the largest economic power in terms of PPP can hardly cover up challenges faced by China such as low efficiency of economic operation, growing social and economic risks, modernized governance of state and society, etc. But if being the largest economic power can strengthen China’s confidence in its comprehensively deepening reform and can also actively enhance its innovation and development in the aspect of social and political system, it will nevertheless become a positive upward drive for China’s position in global industrial division and its international influence.
