ANBOUND:The South-to-North Water Diversion Project Should Follow the Principle of Appropriateness
ANBOUND

The magnificent South-to-North Water Diversion Project has sparked a heated discussion in China about the topics like huge investment, complex ecological impact, water resource distribution and high water supply cost, etc. ANBOUND think tank scholars state that this huge project should be carried out in moderation. We suggest that the project scale should only be limited to the first stage construction at the middle and eastern lines, in order to guarantee the water supply for Beijing, Shandong and Tianjin, etc. Therefore, the other following constructing plans should be reduced significantly or even come to a halt. Moreover, once the western line project starts, it will lead to a man-made disaster to the Western regions with fragile ecological environment.
