Joseph Nye's fears and admonitions to the Trump administration were justified. If Trump's government and China confronted each other in an all-round way, then the two economic powers in the world today would be likely to take the road of mutual dismantling and fighting. Through the mutual visits of the two heads of state in April and November 2017, China and the United States confirmed the main tone of cooperation. This was undoubtedly conducive to the joint efforts of China and the United States to contribute to the prosperity and stability of the world, and the anxiety about the "Thucydides trap" and "Goldberg trap" has been largely resolved. However, deep thinking on the proposition of "Goldberg trap" showed that there were still many misunderstandings in western scholars' world outlook.
Like Scotland, both Wales and Northern Ireland have local councils, but they have much less independent legislative power than the Scottish Parliament. Once the Scottish Parliament gains more legislative power, the asymmetry between Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland will further increase. Under the impact of the Scottish referendum, it is natural for Wales and Northern Ireland to strive for greater local autonomy compared with Scotland.
