China and Suriname on Wednesday agreed to establish a strategic cooperative partnership.

The agreement was reached during the talks between Chinese President Xi Jinping and visiting Suriname's President Desi Bouterse at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing.

Bouterse is paying a state visit to China from Wednesday to Saturday, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Hua Chunying announced Tuesday in Beijing.
